Thank you creators of this model and brand. I have scoured the internet for months to find a 12v to 5v converter for my dash camera. I bought a really terrible one from another company, which worked when it felt like it, but not usually. This one was an answer to all of my worries. I do have some wiring/technical knowledge from installing a diy back up camera, but if you don't, it is not a problem, you can do it. I recommend a fuse tap, so you don't have to cut any wires in your car. Just place the positive input (red) wire in the fuse tap, then plug it into your fuse box(in one that turns on with ignition, and off with the car). I used my radio fuse, but you can find one that works for you. Then, attach the negative black cable to a the ground (metal). Now, with whatever cable you are using, attach yellow to positive, and the other black to the negative, and voila.

I used this to direct wire my on board dash camera that needs 5VDC, (this is the same as USB powered devices) the original power cord was meant to be plugged into the cigarette lighter plug and was too short to conceal. I supplied 10-14 VDC and measured output at a steady 5.16 VDC. It is roughly about the size of a 9 volt battery. Bought two!

The converter is very small. well built. and attractive. Polarity for input and output is marked on the body. I installed barrel power connectors on both ends. It did exactly what I needed. I have used other Drok devices in the past and that influenced my selection. I am again pleased with their product. I would definitely use again.
