As a shower chair, it works fine. However, as a bedside commode, it's not up to par. The instructions for installing the bedpan are vague and it never refers to the "slides" that came with it, which are apparently for holding the bedpan. It should also come with screws, but there are no holes on the chair to use for the sliders.

My husband had hip replacement surgery and needed something to assist him for a few weeks. Unfortunately, the design of this product does not work well for men, or at least not for my husband who is 6' tall and weighs 240 lbs. The issue was a bar in the front of the seat opening, and there was no way to work around it.

I recently had a hip replacement and needed both a raised toilet seat and a shower seat. The shower seat works okay, but I can't use it on any toilet. I'm considering removing the toilet seat and lid to see if it will work. The problem is, if you're male, you can't urinate comfortably. I've found that most of these products have a similar problem - the hole is too small to use for both purposes at the same time. This one doesn't allow any adjustments to fit. You'd think with the way the opening is designed, this wouldn't be an issue. I'm not a large person, but I can't fit, and if I tried to use it, I'd end up making a mess on the floor. I'm still in search of a seat I can use. I have six more weeks of rehab and another eight after I get my other hip replaced.

I bought this product for my partner after their spinal surgery. The chair is not as heavy-duty or sturdy as we expected. We had to use the larger feet and lower the legs to make it more stable. The bucket for the commode does not have a flange to prevent it from sliding out the back of the chair, so there's a risk of accidentally spilling waste if you're not careful when removing it for emptying. The stick-on foam pieces did not provide as much comfort as we had hoped. We would have returned it if we hadn't needed something immediately.

If we hadn't looked at the images, we wouldn't have known why the long screws had so much extra space. However, photos were posted at the bottom of the page and we realized where to put the gray bars. This was very frustrating for a cancer patient who just wants to take a hot shower. But we persevered and got the screws as tight as we could. Maybe I should wait until after he showers to see if it's worth the effort and price. Then I will adjust our ratings. It's unfortunate that Medicare doesn't cover the cost.

I needed this product when my wife returned from the hospital, unable to walk or stand securely. It provided the necessary extension and stability over the commode and in the shower. The handles offered extra support when transitioning up and down. My only design suggestion would be to have the front support bar bow forward a couple of inches to provide more clearance when used over the commode.

As a shower chair, the design is good and sturdy. However, as a portable potty or raised toilet chair, the design isn't particularly comfortable, and the opening isn't sufficient for thorough cleaning, especially for someone with an obese body. Despite these issues, it's a very durable chair.

For anyone with mobility issues, this shower chair is an excellent product. It serves multiple purposes as it can also be used as a raised toilet seat, thanks to the removable center. Although assembly takes a bit of time, it becomes relatively easy once you get the hang of it. I particularly liked the optional wide rubber leg end caps and the adjustable legs. This chair seems to set the gold standard for shower/toilet chairs.
