    I decided to get my great-grandson a drum for his 3rd birthday, but I opted for this drum mat over a traditional drum for three reasons: 1) It allows him to control the volume. 2) It's portable and can be rolled up. 3) As he and his brother grow older, they can play the keyboard together, with his brother accompanying him on the drums. His parents also appreciate that it encourages him to be active while playing, like dancing on the mat.
